A Week from Monday 2021 è una pubblicazione con cd che raccoglie i materiali della seconda edizione della residenza – dallo stesso titolo – organizzata da Viaindustriae e Holydays a Scopoli (PG) tra agosto e settembre 2021. È un diario dei sette giorni trascorsi insieme all’artista visivo Davide Barbini (di cui sono visibili i disegni nel libro) e ai musicisti ksara, Vincenzo Marando, Steve Pepe (di cui sono ascoltabili i brani su cd) tra indagine sonora, ricerca visiva ed esplorazione dei territori. Il titolo del progetto, A Week from Monday, “cita non letteralmente” un libro tecnico di John Cage (A Year from Monday. Lectures and Writings, 1967), un’agenda di lavoro e pensiero. Al centro della ricerca sonora, la canzone e la voce. Le cinque tracce, composte con strumenti acustici ed elettronici, rappresentano la messa in suono di intuizioni e suggestioni raccolte dai musicisti direttamente dal contesto in cui si sono trovati a operare. Il lavoro di Davide Barbini, invece, si presenta come un video-diario che raccoglie un susseguirsi di azioni e idee, concepito in contemporanea con i disegni e gli appunti qui riportati, una sorta di sceneggiatura che ordina il girato. All’interno del libro è presente una cartolina con QR code per accede all’ascolto digitale delle tracce sonore e al video di Davide Barbini.

A Week from Monday 2021 is a publication with a CD that gathers together the sonic and visual results of the residency – with the same title – organized by Viaindustriae and Holydays in Scopoli (Italy, PG) in 2021. It is a diary of the seven days spent with visual artists Davide Barbini and musicians ksara, Vincenzo Marando, Steve Pepe between sound investigation, visual research, and exploration of the landscape. The seven days of the residency are mirrored in the seven tracks on the CD, as well as the seven ‘chapters’ of the diary. The theme of the project stems from its title, A Week from Monday, loosely quoting the title of John Cage’s A Year from Monday. Lectures & Writings, 1967, a theoretical work mixing reflections on working methods, compositional suggestions, social criticism, sound, music and philosophy. Central to the work that emerged was an investigation into song and voice. Davide Barbini’s work, is a video-diary accompanied by a series of drawings.
